Thank you for electing me to serve on Flemingsburg City Council this is my third term to serve for the residents of Flemingsburg.  I am a lifelong resident of Fleming County and lived for 42 years in Flemingsburg.  I have attended and received a variety of training from the Kentucky League of Cities and wish to continue to receive further training to help our city to grow and prosper.  I am proud to say I am from Flemingsburg and am always quick to defend our city.  I believe our city can advance in many ways in the near future.  You often see me driving or walking in the city limits looking at our facilities, buildings, and residential areas.  I am approachable and quick to respond if you have an issue.  I am married to David Graham and live at 305 Elizaville Avenue, Flemingsburg. We are blessed to have two children, Kaylee and John.  I am employed by Fleming County Schools as a teacher at the high school.  My teaching has allowed me to have a variety of jobs and skills transferable to the City of Flemingsburg and the council. I have been on numerous committees and site base management from my employment with the school system.  I have been an active member of the Tilton Christian Church.  On several occasions, you can see me cheering on the Panthers and the Morehead Eagles to victory.  I love our city and enjoy helping our residents and hope to improve our quality of life in our City of Flemingsburg. Hello and welcome to the City of Flemingsburg and to our website.  My name is Danny Carpenter, I was currently re-elected as one of your city Councilman.  My involvement in City Government started in 1976 when I started my 41 year career in law enforcement with the Flemingsburg Police Department.  Upon graduation from the Police Academy, I remained a police officer until becoming Chief of Police for over 17 years.  I received the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP) Chief of the Year Award in 2007.  After retiring from the City, I accepted an investigator position with the Kentucky Inspectors Generals Office from 2007-2012. In 2012, I became a Deputy for the Fleming County Sheriff’s Office until 2017, where I supervised the Court Security at the New Justice Center upon opening.

My wife, Karen, and I moved off the farm in 1999 and built our home at 500 Chapel Lane, where we still reside.  We are active members of the Flemingsburg Nazarene Church.  I’m also a member of the Flemingsburg Lions Club.  Our children are Rebecca “Becky” McGinnis and Patricia “Trish” Carpenter.  Sadly, my youngest daughter Trish passed away in 2022. My son-in-law is Jamie McGinnis and my grandchildren are JD and Lauren McGinnis.

I want to thank all those who voted and for allowing me the opportunity to serve you once again. These past four years have been a pleasure!  The City was so good to me for all those years that I served as a Police Officer.  I’m thankful that I can help give back and try to do something good for the community as we move forward, facing challenges and uncertainties.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at 606-748-0688 or

Thank you and God Bless
Danny Carpenter

Flemingsburg has longed billed itself as ‘The Friendly Town That Hospitality Built’ and I am honored to again have an opportunity to serve the community as we seek to extend that culture as we grow into the future. I have lived in Flemingsburg for the past 45 years and have served the community throughout that time as: a member of the Flemingsburg Fire Department for 45 years; an elected official for 27 years between 1985-2019; and on various boards and community organizations. I retired from a career in public education after serving for 38 years as a high school teacher, principal, district administrator, and college instructor. I am a commissioned minister with the Christian Church in Kentucky (Disciples of Christ), serving as pastor of a local church for the past 13 years. I am currently serving as the Director of Emergency Management for Fleming County, working to maintain a high level of preparedness for the county while assisting community leaders in emergency situations and ensuring the continuation of basic services. My goal in serving is to do what I can to make life better for the people in our community; to help them reach their potential as productive members of the community; and to provide opportunities for growth for the community at large.
