The Flemingsburg City Council held a special meeting Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Annex.  Council members present were Marty Voiers, Carl Haight, Georgianna Sparks, Meredith Story, and Scott Manning.  Nancy Suit was absent.  Mayor Louie K. Flanery presided.

 

            Councilman Haight led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Mayor Flanery reported that three bids had been submitted for blacktopping:  (1) Brown County Construction - $50.60/ton with a 1500 ton minimum; (2) Standiford Builders - $49.50/ton; (3) H.G. Mays - $48.95/ton.  Councilwoman Sparks moved to accept the low bid submitted by H.G. Mays with the stipulation that the work be completed within a reasonable time.  Councilman Voiers seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

 

            Councilman Story reported that the Finance Committee had reviewed the potential revenues that would be generated by extending the City’s natural gas line to the Steve Dobson property and agreed it would be feasible to do so.  Councilman Story moved to extend natural gas to the Dobson property.  Councilman Voiers seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

 

            Mayor Flanery presented Resolution No. 06-05-1 regarding grant application for Land and Water Conservation in the amount of $75,000.  Mayor Flanery noted that the City had applied for these funds three times, but felt there was a good chance the City would be awarded the funds.  Councilman Manning moved to adopt the resolution.  Councilwoman Sparks seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

 

            Mayor Flanery presented the budget proposals for fiscal year 2006-2007.  After a brief discussion City Clerk Joy Roark presented the first reading of Ordinance No.6-06-1 adopting the annual general fund budget.  Councilman Voiers moved to approve.  Councilman Haight seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

 

            City Clerk Joy Roark presented the first reading of Ordinance No. 6-06-2 adopting the annual budget for water, natural gas, and wastewater.  Councilwoman Sparks moved to approve.  Councilman Story seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

 

            Councilman Manning moved to adjourn at 6:55 p.m.  Councilman Haight seconded the motion.  All were in favor.
